Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs

In 2011, BVSA adopted the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as the basis of themes for the selection of projects to be listed on its financial funding platform.

Adopted in September 2000 by more than 150 United Nations (UN) member countries, the MDGs reflect the members’ commitments to reduce extreme poverty and promote "a just and lasting peace" in the world within the next 15 years.

In 2015, based on the foundations laid by the MDGs, the UN defined a framework of 17 goals for international cooperation for the next 15 years called Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Developed through the mutual cooperation of member countries, market entities and civil society to accomplish the MDGs and respond to the new challenges, these new goals integrate the three dimensions of sustainable development (economic, social and environmental) and are related to five areas whose names begin with the letter P (People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership), for which reason, they are also known as the “5 Ps”.

In this regard, reaffirming our commitment to the UN and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the BVSA has adopted the 5 Ps as themes for the selection of projects listed as of 2016, as follows:
