Social Responsibility Day
Every year, the Exchange donates part of the fees that result from one equity trading session to all of the NGO projects listed on BM&FBOVESPA’s Socio-Environmental Investment Exchange (BVSA). This year, 12 projects benefited.
The event is named “Social Responsibility Day” and is celebrated this Monday (December 05) as part of International Volunteer Day.
A pioneering initiative created by BM&FBOVESPA in 2003 with the brokerage houses’ support, BVSA is a fundraising platform with a format similar to a stock exchange. BVSA is recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) and by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), while the United Nations Global Compact (UN) considers it a case study and model for other markets. Furthermore, its model was replicated in South Africa in 2006 and in Portugal in 2009. Since it was founded, BVSA has raised more than BRL 17 million, which has been allocated to 157 projects across Brazil.
This is another BM&FBOVESPA initiative to promote market involvement in qualified social investment initiatives.
